Veterans Programs

Family Life Care is Veteran owned and we have engaged with the Veteran's Administration to participate in every VA Health and Retirement Program that we can serve. Many Veterans are unaware of programs they are eligible for and the associated benefits. Family Life Care participates in the following programs.

Tricare: The U.S. Military's health care program that provides comprehensive health benefits to active duty members and their families. In the h0me health environment, Tri care is typically a short term, post acute program.

Tricare for Life: Tricare for Life is a short term, post acute coverage. Veterans retired (not separated) from the miliary at or after age 65 that have Medicare Parts A and B, have automatically been enrolled in Tricare for Life. It is a Medicare-wrap around coverage and can pay for some services that Medicare does not cover.

VA Community Cares Program: Community Cares Programs can be short term or long term. As a Veteran you may be eligible to get care outside of the VA where the VA will pay the cost of your care to Family Life Care. You must be enrolled in VA Health Care and assigned a VA PCP at a local VA Facility. The care can include:

  • Skilled Nursing
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Social Work
  • Homemaking
  • IV Antibiotics
  • Respite Care
  • Physical Therapy
  • Speech Therapy
  • Home Health Aides
  • Bowel and Bladder Care
  • Wound Care

VA Aid and Attendance Program: The Aid and Attendance Programs provides funding that Veterans and their Spouses can use to offset monthly healthcare costs. Aid and Attendance does not pay the provider like the programs above, but reimburses the Veteran for payments made out of pocket.

Eligibility for Aid and Attendance is based upon many criteria including assets owned and medical need. It can provide reimbursement for home care provided by Family Life Care home health aides and homemakers. Depending on the circumstances, Aid and Attendance can pay from $1,515 to $3,740 monthly.

Care Management: Complete Care Management services are available to Veterans to recommend and engage services. Currently the VA has no program to pay for such services so they are private pay. In some instances, up to 4 hours of a Care Management Assessment for Active Duty Military and Veterans may be available through a grant from the Florida Chapter of the Aging Life Care Association.
